Former president Kufuor launches JA Kufuor Cup

In a grand ceremony at Peduase on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, former President John Agyekum Kufuor officiated the ceremonial inauguration and unveiling of the J.A. Kufuor Cup trophy.

Fans can look forward to an exciting match on Sunday, February 18, 2024, as Ghanaian premier league giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC face off at the Baba Yara Stadium in the highly-anticipated J.A. Kufuor Cup.

The JAK Foundation, the organizer of the event, seeks to honor the legacy of the former President, who recently celebrated his 85th birthday.

Notable figures in attendance at the trophy unveiling included former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, coach Kwesi Appiah, and Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku.

Eric Alagidede, the General Manager of Nsoatreman, expressed confidence in his club’s ability to take the trophy from Kotoko.

Meanwhile, Coach Kwesi Appiah of Kotoko assured that his team would put up a strong fight to honor the memory of the former president, who previously served as their board chair.

In a show of support, Stephen Appiah, an ambassador for the J.A. Kufuor Cup, committed to purchasing 1,000 tickets for the match, while the GFA President pledged to buy 5,000 tickets for fans.

Kurt Okraku urged Ghanaians to show their support by turning up in large numbers to witness the match and encouraged both teams to give their best efforts.

Former President JA Kufuor extended his best wishes to both clubs, assuring them of his support come Sunday, February 18, 2024, to formally kick off the tournament.
