Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet has officially applied for the head coach position of the Black Stars of Ghana, following the departure of Chris Hughton.
Saintfiet’s recent exit as the head coach of The Gambia national team after their AFCON group stage exit has sparked interest in his candidacy for the role.
With over a decade of experience in African football, having managed six national teams since 2008, Saintfiet is seen as a strong contender for the job.
His coaching experience extends to various African countries and clubs, including Malawi, Namibia, Ethiopia, Togo, Zimbabwe, South Africa’s Free State Stars, and Tanzania’s Young Africans.
Most notably, his tenure with The Gambia saw the country qualifying for their first AFCON appearance in 2021 and reaching the quarter-final stage, a historical achievement for the national team.
His reputation and track record in African football have made him a highly sought-after figure, with interest from top-tier nations across the continent.
