Formal Ghanaian international Raphael Dwamena to be laid to rest on Friday, February 16, 2024.
The late Black Stars striker, Raphael Dwamena, who tragically passed away last year, will be laid in state this Friday at the Adjiringano Astro Turf in Accra. The funeral service will take place immediately after his private burial.
Raphael Dwamena sadly died in November 2023 after collapsing while playing for KF Egnatia against KF Partizani in the Albanian top-flight.
The former Levante, FC Zurich, and Real Zaragoza striker passed away at the young age of 28.
The tragic incident occurred when he collapsed in the 23rd minute of the game and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Dwamena’s career faced numerous challenges after he was first diagnosed with a heart problem in 2017.
The towering forward had been playing with a heart monitor since collapsing in two games during his time in Austria.
Raphael Dwamena notably scored on his debut for Ghana in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia in 2017.
At the time of his passing, he was the leading scorer in the Albanian league, leaving behind a legacy of his remarkable talent and contribution to the sport.
