The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is reportedly in advanced talks with Herve Renard to become the new head coach of the national team.

This move comes after Rui Vitória, the Portuguese manager, was sacked following Egypt’s disappointing performance in the 2023 AFCON, where they were eliminated in the Round of 16 after a penalty shootout loss to DR Congo.

Renowned for his successful stints with African teams like Zambia and Ivory Coast, Renard’s potential appointment has generated significant interest from Egyptian football authorities.

Despite currently leading the French women’s national team, Renard is reportedly open to the possibility of taking charge of the Egyptian team. However, he remains committed to fulfilling his existing contractual obligations, including participating in the upcoming Olympics with the French women’s team.

At the same time, Carlos Queiroz, the former national team manager, has also emerged as a candidate for the role, highlighting the nation’s determination to revitalize its football program for international success.

The impending decision on Egypt’s head coach has left football enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the official announcement, with the potential of Renard leading the team adding a sense of excitement to Egypt’s football landscape.
