Ernest Nuamah, a Ghana international, played a crucial role in Olympique Lyon’s 2-1 victory over Lille in the French Cup on Wednesday night.
Although he did not start the game, Nuamah was brought on in the 64th minute to replace Rayan Cherki and made an impact with his performance.
Lyon took the lead in the 40th minute with a goal from Gift Orban, which they held onto going into halftime.
In the second half, Rayan Cherki extended Lyon’s lead with a goal in the 47th minute, but Lille managed to pull one back when Alexsandro Ribeiro scored in the 53rd minute.
Despite Lille’s efforts, Lyon held on to secure a 2-1 victory, booking their spot in the quarter-finals of the French Cup for the current season.
