The Cameroon Football Federation (FÉCAFOOT) has announced that head coach Rigobert Song will not be retained when his contract expires.

Song, who took over as the head coach of the Cameroon national team on February 28, 2022, will see his contract end on February 24, 2024.

Following a disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the Cameroon FA, led by Samuel Eto’o, has decided not to extend Song’s contract. The decision comes as they look for a new direction for the national team.

Cameroon was knocked out of the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire at the Round of 16 stage after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Nigeria at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan last week.

Song, a former Cameroon star, has managed six wins, nine defeats, and eight draws in 23 matches since taking over as the national team coach.
