James Kwesi Appiah, an Interim Management Committee member (IMC) of Asante Kotoko, has highlighted the importance of learning from their mistakes and avoiding complacency as the Ghana Premier League prepares to resume.

The Premier League is set to return this weekend with Kotoko facing off against Heart of Lions in the week 18 fixture.

Despite a rocky start to the season, the Porcupine Warriors made significant improvements and finished in third place in the first half of the domestic top-flight campaign.

Appiah noted that the team is not solely focused on winning the league, as the club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed a desire for them to build a team for the future.

“From the middle part of the first round up to the end, the team was performing well because they’ve now gotten to know themselves well. We didn’t start the season on a good note but we will learn from our mistakes and ward off complacency and make sure we go all out in the second round,” Appiah stated.

“I will not say that we will win the league, if we win it’s a plus but nothing spoils if we don’t win because Otumfuo want us to build a team towards the future,” he added.

In other news, the Ghanaian giants secured their first title of the season by defeating Nsoatreman FC 2-1 to claim the inaugural J.A Kufuor Cup last Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
