Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s top football clubs, has been knocked out of the MTN FA Cup after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Karela United in the Round 16 stage of the competition.
The match took place on Monday, February 12, at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium and saw a strong performance from both teams in the first half, with neither side managing to score a goal.
However, two minutes into the second half, Solomon Aboagye found the back of the net for Karela United, putting them in the lead. Despite creating several chances, Asante Kotoko was unable to equalize, and Giyas added to Karela United’s lead with a stunning goal in the 65th minute.
With this victory, Karela United has secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup, while Asante Kotoko bows out of the competition. The defeat comes as a disappointment for the passionate Asante Kotoko fans, but congratulations to Karela United for their well-deserved win.
