Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu has shared that his close relationship with Kamaldeen Sulemana played a role in his decision to join Stade Rennais.
The former Southampton winger, who played for the French Ligue 1 club from 2021 to 2023, made 34 appearances in the league and scored five goals before moving to a Championship side in January.
Seidu expressed his excitement about joining the club and highlighted his strong connections with some of the players.
“I’m very close to Kamaldeen Sulemana, and I get on very well with Christopher Wooh. The rest of the players I’ve met on Ligue 1 pitches, and I’m sure things will go well in the dressing room,” he shared on the club’s official website.
The 23-year-old versatile defender transferred from fellow French top flight side Clermont Foot for a fee of approximately €11 million.
Seidu has completed his mandatory medical checks after returning from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations where he had limited playing time.
He has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2028.
