Alidu Seidu, the defender for the Black Stars, journeyed to France accompanied by his mother to finalize the details of his transfer to Stade Rennais FC.
After several attempts, the Red and Black side have successfully come to terms to secure the Ghanaian defender’s signature in the current transfer window.
Before reaching an agreement, Clermont Foot had turned down three offers from Rennais.
The Black Stars’ defender, who had an impressive stint with fellow Ligue 1 club Clermont Foot, has now joined Rennais and is anticipated to play a significant role in his new team.
Seidu’s move to Rennais involved a reported fee of 11 million Euros plus bonuses. The official unveiling is scheduled to take place after the conclusion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Despite his participation in the disappointing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with the Black Stars, where they exited the tournament in the group stage without a single victory, the 23-year-old Ghanaian defender has showcased excellence in the ongoing campaign for Clermont Foot, making 14 appearances and contributing with one assist for the club.
