Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is set to commission the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday, March 1, 2024, in preparation for the African Games 2023. The stadium, with a capacity of 20,000, will be the focal point for the field and track disciplines during the two-week competition.

Over 13,000 athletes, officials, and volunteers from 54 African countries are expected to converge in Accra for the African Games, making this event a significant sporting spectacle on the continent. The commissioning of the venue by the Vice President marks the final phase of preparations for the games.

Not long ago, President Akufo-Addo inaugurated the Borteyman Sports Complex, and now the baton has been passed to his vice to commission the Legon Stadium. This demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing world-class sporting facilities for international events.
