Former Dutch international George Boateng has spoken out about the coaching staff’s response to Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Following the team’s elimination, the entire coaching staff was dismissed by the Ghana Football Association.

Boateng, now a pundit on Sky Sports, admitted that it was tough to accept the early exit from the tournament, but emphasized that it’s all part of the game.

He also mentioned that the coaching staff took full responsibility for the team’s poor performance and will work with the FA and players to learn from the experience and improve for next time.

Ghana’s hopes were crushed after finishing third in a group that included Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.

The Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde and managed to secure two 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique, sealing their fate in the group stage.

This marks the second consecutive AFCON where Ghana failed to advance past the group stages, leaving the nation’s quest for a fifth AFCON title unfulfilled for 42 years.
