Hull City midfielder Jean Michael Seri has expressed his joy over his role in Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph, revealing that even his young children are aware of his success.

After helping his country secure the title on home soil, Seri received a warm reception from his teammates and fans. However, it was the reaction from his family that truly touched his heart.

“I have children aged 10, eight and five,” Seri shared with BBC Look North. “Even my five-year-old daughter understands the magnitude of this achievement. She told me, ‘Daddy, you’re a champion!’ It was a special moment.”

Reflecting on the experience, Seri described it as “amazing” and “exceptional,” expressing his disbelief at the emotions that football can evoke. Witnessing the trophy stay in his home country brought tears to his eyes.

Now back with his club Hull City, Seri is determined to replicate his success on the international stage by helping the Tigers secure promotion to the Premier League. The team’s recent victory over Southampton has placed them in contention for a promotion spot, currently sitting in sixth place in the Championship.

“This year is shaping up to be the best in my career,” Seri stated confidently. “I believe we can achieve great things together. It will be a special year, unlike any other since I started playing football.”
