Ningo Prampram Representative, Samuel Nartey George, questions the value of the Black Stars’ performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, given the 8.5 million dollar budget allocated to the team.
The Black Stars’ disappointing performance at the tournament saw them failing to secure a single victory, resulting in their elimination at the group stage.
This outcome has sparked criticism from Sam George, who has been vocal in his disapproval of the significant financial investment made by the Ghana Football Association and the Sports Ministry in light of the country’s economic challenges.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Sam George expressed his disbelief at the allocation of such a large budget for the national team, especially considering the meager return of only two points in the competition.
The Ningo Prampram Representative went on to highlight the systemic issues within the Black Stars, emphasizing the need for a critical evaluation of the team’s performance and allocation of resources.
Ghana’s failure to progress to the Round of 16 came as a result of finishing third in a group that included Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique. The team’s inability to secure a victory, with losses to Cape Verde and draws against Egypt and Mozambique, has once again left the nation waiting for its fifth AFCON title, now entering its 42nd year.
