Cote d’Ivoire is on the verge of securing its third continental title as they prepare to face Nigeria in the finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium in Ebimpe, just 90 minutes away from potential glory.
Under the guidance of Emerse Faé, the Elephants have made a stunning comeback, widely seen as one of the greatest in the history of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON, bringing them close to repeating their victories of 1992 and 2015.
In his pre-final speech, Coach Faé expressed the team’s strong desire to win and keep the trophy on home soil, thereby adding a third star to the orange jersey of Cote d’Ivoire.
“Tomorrow presents a tremendous opportunity for us to keep the trophy at home. We understand the challenges of winning a tournament you host. By making it to the final, we are now on the brink of accomplishing this and at the same time, adding a third star to the orange jersey of Côte d’Ivoire,” affirmed the coach.
A victory against Nigeria would see the Elephants match their opponent’s three TotalEnergies CAF AFCON titles.
The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to start at 20:00 GMT at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.
