Afcon 2023: Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria set-up a ‘classic’ final

Cote d’Ivoire has made a remarkable come-back and will face Nigeria in the Finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 in what has been described as a ‘classic Final.’

The Final will take place on Sunday, 11 February at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan at 20h00 GMT.

The last phase of ticket sales will open on Thursday afternoon for the members of the public.

Cote d’Ivoire’s victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo (Congo DR) secured their spot in the Finals, as they laboured to a 1-0 win in front of a packed stadium in Abidjan, thanks to a goal from Sebastien Haller.

On the other hand, Nigeria’s 4-2 penalty shootout victory over South Africa secured their place in the final as they chase their 4th African title since 2013.

With Cote d’Ivoire aiming for a third continental title and Nigeria looking to add to their trophy collection, the stage is set for a highly-anticipated final between the two footballing giants.

Meanwhile, Congo DR will take on South Africa in the third-place playoff on Saturday at 20h00.
