Following the resignation of head coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko, Ghana Premier League side Karela United has appointed former Ghana Black Stars goalkeeper Abukari Damba as their new head coach on an interim basis, as reported in the local media.
Abukari Damba, who has transitioned from player to coach, has been given the responsibility of overseeing the technical side of the team until a permanent replacement is found.
Having struggled in the first half of the season, Karela United currently sits in 17th place, inside the relegation zone of the Ghana Premier League.
With only 17 points from 17 games, the team is just one point away from safety and will need to significantly improve in the second round of the season.
Karela United is already preparing for their upcoming match against Legon Cities at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on February 25 and will be looking to turn their fortunes around under the guidance of Abukari Damba.
