Ghana’s Black Queens forward Freda Ayisi has refuted claims that her team lost to Zambia in the Olympic Games qualifiers due to complacency.
Following a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ghana now faces an uphill task of overcoming Zambia on aggregate to progress to the final round of the qualifiers.
Speaking ahead of the crucial second leg, Ayisi, who plays for Charlton Athletic, emphasized that the team is fully focused on the task at hand and is determined to secure a positive result on Wednesday.
Expressing her eagerness for the team to qualify for the Olympics, Ayisi highlighted the significance of showcasing Ghana’s footballing talent on a global stage.
”I feel that the team is good, the team is doing well, it wasn’t complacency that made us lose in Accra. We are focused, sometimes football can go either way and that’s what happened in the 1st leg,” she stated.
The decisive second leg encounter is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the Levy Mwanawasa Sports Stadium in Ndola.
