Freda Ayisi, a midfielder for Charlton Athletic Women’s team, has arrived in Ghana to join her Black Queens teammates as they prepare for an important Olympic Games qualifier against Zambia.
Ayisi earned her place in the squad of 23 players for the upcoming matches against the Copper Queens due to her outstanding performances at the club level.
Upon her arrival, the England-based midfielder took part in training with the team on Monday and may have the opportunity to make her debut for the Black Queens in the upcoming match on Friday.
The senior women’s national team will travel to Zambia for the return leg of the qualifier on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Ayisi expressed her confidence in the team’s ability to succeed against Zambia: “Of course [we have what it takes to advance ahead of Zambia]. We have got to be confident in our ability. We’ve got to go there with confidence and believe that we get the job done. When we get there, we are just going to be focused on the game and not focusing on outside noise. We just need to focus on the game, and that is what is going to happen,” she said.
