NPP Primaries: Eastern Regional minister defeated in New Juaben North after switching constituency

In a surprising turn of events, Nana Osei Adjei has emerged as the winner of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Primaries in the Eastern region’s New Juaben North constituency.

The outcome saw Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, a former Member of Parliament of Mpraeso Constituency, losing to Nana Osei Adjei. Acheampong had switched to New Juaben North with the hope of returning to parliament in 2025.

Nana Osei Adjei secured the victory with 253 votes, while Seth Kwame Acheampong came in second with 183 votes. Joseph Osei Djaba obtained 47 votes, Sampson Kwesi Annor got 2 votes, and Philip Twum-Yeboah received only 3 votes.

Prior to the election, reports surfaced regarding supporters of Nana Osei Adjei allegedly planting juju at the polling station, leading to unrest in New Juaben.

However, security personnel swiftly brought the situation under control.
