Member of Parliament (MP) for Batama Constituency, Francis Asenso Boakye has secured his position as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency.
Asenso Boakye received 650 votes, defeating opponent Ralph Agyapong who garnered 181 votes.
The election was hotly contested, with notable support from Kennedy Agyapong for his brother, Ralph Agyapong.
In a dramatic turn of events, the two candidates were nearly involved in a physical altercation after Ralph Agyapong accused Asenso Boakye of unprofessional conduct for singing at the polling station.
Asenso Boakye has made history as the first NPP MP to successfully retain his candidature in the constituency.
