Youth cyclist Juan Pujalte, aged 18, tragically lost his life in a training accident in Spain. Pujalte was a promising talent racing for the Valverde cycling under-23 Team.
The incident occurred in Escombreras, Cartagena, Spain, and has deeply saddened the cycling community.
The Cycling Federation of the Region of Murcia (FCRM) issued a statement confirming the tragic news: “With heavy hearts, we announce the accidental death of Juan Pujalte Martinez, a member of the Murcia cycling team.
“The entire cycling family will mourn your loss.”
Identified as a talent in early years, Pujalte was noticed while competing at junior levels. He made the transition to the Valverde team from Esetec-Salazone last year, a significant step towards reaching the professional level.
Originally from San Pedro del Pinatar in the Murcia region, Pujalte began his elite youth competitions in 2022, participating in races in Spain and Portugal.
Cycling enthusiasts paid tribute to Pujalte on X, responding to the Murcia Cycling Federation’s announcement of his untimely passing.
