Renowned songwriter Mark James, known for his collaborations with legends like Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson, has passed away at the age of 83 in his home in Nashville, Tennessee.

Mark James, born Francis Zambon in Houston, Texas, in 1940, was known for penning hit songs like “Hooked on a Feeling,” “Always on My Mind,” and the beloved “Suspicious Minds” which became a top hit with Elvis Presley.

His illustrious career earned him a spot in the Songwriter Hall of Fame in 2014 and the title of Songwriter of the Century in 2000 by BMI.

Described as one of the greatest songwriters in history, James’ legacy will live on through his timeless lyrics and melodies that have touched hearts for generations.

He is survived by his wife Karen Zambon of 53 years, daughters Sammie and Dana Zambon, and grandchildren.
