The sorrowful sisters of Nicole Brown Simpson have finally spoken out regarding the passing of OJ Simpson, a man they believe brought immense turmoil to their family.
Simpson passed away on April 11 after battling cancer at the age of 76. The former NFL star was put on trial in January 1995 for the brutal murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, whose bodies were discovered brutally slain outside Nicole’s condominium in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles.
Over a month following Simpson’s demise, Nicole’s sisters, Tanya, Dominique, and Denise, opened up about their feelings towards the notorious footballer’s death. “It’s very complicated,” Dominique, 59, shared with People magazine. “This is a person who’s been in our life for a very long time, who wreaked havoc on our family. It’s like the end of a chapter,” Tanya, 54, added.
Denise and Dominique recounted a time when their then-18-year-old sister introduced them to Simpson in 1977 when he was merely “her boyfriend.” They remembered watching Simpson play for the Buffalo Bills in upstate New York, and when he scored a touchdown, Denise thought to herself, “Wow, look at this guy. He’s amazing.”
However, Simpson’s abusive nature soon surfaced. Denise vividly recalled a night when everything fell apart after Nicole showed a friendly gesture to a mutual friend at a game. Simpson was irate and took Nicole upstairs to the bathroom, accusing her of embarrassing him.
As the relationship progressed and Nicole became pregnant with Simpson’s child, his hostility intensified. “She was pregnant, and he was calling her a fat pig,” Denise recalled.
Simpson’s demise evoked mixed reactions from those close to him and individuals involved in his double murder case. Caitlyn Jenner, once a close friend of Simpson’s, expressed her feelings on X, stating, “Good riddance.” Tom Lange, a lead detective in the Simpson investigation, candidly told TMZ, “I have nothing to say, I just don’t care.” Fred Goldman, the father of Ron Goldman, expressed a poignant reminder of Ron’s absence all these years. He stated, “It’s no great loss to the world. It’s a further reminder of Ron’s being gone.”
