Renowned former Netherlands manager Kees Rijvers has passed away at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by football fans across the nation.

Rijvers was not only a celebrated manager but also an accomplished player who made a name for himself in the French league by winning the title with Saint Etienne in 1957.

During his managerial tenure, Rijvers introduced iconic players such as Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard, and Ronald Koeman to the international stage.

His impact extended to the national team, where he earned 33 caps and scored 10 goals between 1946 and 1960.

Rijvers’ success in club management was highlighted by winning three Eredivisie titles and the UEFA Cup with PSV Eindhoven.

His impressive record of 251 victories in the Eredivisie remains unmatched, except for one manager, Bert Jacobs.

Rijvers also left a lasting impact on FC Twente, where he served as manager for six years and later as the club’s technical director.
