CNN political commentator Alice Stewart was found beaming in what would be her final Instagram post – just hours before her sudden death in Virginia.
The former communications director for Ted Cruz’s 2016 presidential campaign was discovered outdoors on Saturday.
Alice Stewart, 58, had appeared on Wolf Blitzer’s The Situation Room on the night before her passing.
She was captured in a joyful moment standing alongside fellow CNN political commentator Maria Cardona.
“It’s always a sunny day when you can join the great Wolf Blitzer on CNN,” captioned Stewart on Instagram.
Stewart had recently shared images from a CNN brunch at the British Embassy and the White House Correspondents Dinner, radiating joy in each photo.
While the cause of her death remains unknown, investigators suspect she may have suffered a medical emergency without any foul play involved.
Politicians and journalists alike have been paying tribute to Stewart, remembering her as a talented professional and a dear friend.
Her background in politics, including work on Michele Bachmann’s and Rick Santorum’s presidential campaigns, as well as serving as communications director for Ted Cruz, has left a lasting impact.
Ted Cruz himself expressed deep sadness and praised Stewart for her passion and patriotism.
