Valentine’s Day was a day of joy and love for some orphans in Kumasi as they were treated to a surprise celebration by the Peadato Foundation. More than seventy orphans at the King Jesus Charity Home were ecstatic to be part of the festivities, which included games, music, and a delicious meal.

In addition to the celebration, the Peadato Foundation also took the opportunity to settle the educational bills of at least three students from the orphanage. The children were visibly elated as they celebrated the day with volunteers and members of the foundation.

According to Philemon Seth Ackom, Executive Director of Peadato Foundation, the event was part of the foundation’s core responsibilities and marked the beginning of an annual initiative aimed at bringing joy and love to underprivileged children. The foundation also donated essential items such as food, drinks, toiletries, and stationery to the care home.

“The event is all about spreading love. A better way to celebrate this day is to come here and put smiles on the faces of these little ones,” said Gertrude Agyemang, Board Chair of the Foundation.

Moreover, the foundation supported the education of at least three children by covering the costs of their semester. Ackom emphasized that the event is a corporate social activity of Peadato Company Limited and is anticipated to be replicated in the future.

The King Jesus Charity Home has been a haven for street children and orphans since its establishment in 1995. The home is currently hoping to expand its accommodation to house and care for more underprivileged children and orphans.

Esther Owusu Ampofowaa, the Administrator for the orphanage, expressed the need for support to complete the new accommodation structure, which is currently at the foundation level. She highlighted the success stories of previous students from the home who have gone on to become nurses, teachers, and vocational students.

The Peadato Foundation’s gesture brought immeasurable joy to the orphans and underscored the importance of spreading love and kindness to underprivileged children in Ghana.
