The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for its parliamentary primary in the Sunyani East constituency in the Bono Region.

The nomination process begins on Wednesday, February 14 and will officially close on Saturday, February 17.

According to a statement signed by NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, aspiring parliamentary candidates are required to purchase a non-refundable nomination form at GH₵3,000.

Additionally, to successfully file the nomination, an aspiring parliamentary candidate shall pay a non-refundable filing fee of thirty-five thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵35, 000.00) in Banker’s Draft in favour of the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters, Accra.

However, women, youth, and persons with disabilities will receive a 50 per cent rebate on their filing fees. The statement also mentioned that all aspirants, except the incumbent Member of Parliament, will be expected to pay an amount of GH₵40,000 as party development fees.

It is important to note that Sunyani East constituency and five other constituencies were excluded from the parliamentary primaries organized by the party on January 27, 2024. This was due to a court injunction on the primary in Sunyani East.
