The National Democratic Congress (NDC) explains why it rejected the proposal to change the election date from December 7 to November 7.

The NDC justified its stance by highlighting the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) rejection of a similar proposal in 2016.

Tanko Rashid Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections for the NDC, revealed that the NPP rejected the proposal in 2016, instructing its Members of Parliament to vote against it. Computer emphasized that the NDC is firm in its opposition to the proposed change, despite supporting it in 2016.

The NDC’s current stand is based on the NPP’s rejection of the proposal in 2016, which necessitated a constitutional amendment. Computer stressed that the rejection is rooted in the party’s conviction and principles.

The proposal was raised during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Monday, January 22, 2024.

The Electoral Commission has defended the proposal, citing the need for adequate time to manage operations effectively. However, the NDC remains resolute in its opposition.
