I’ve never and will never pay bribes – Woyome challenges GLC decision to disbar Chief State Attorney

Alfred Agbesi Woyome, a prominent businessman, has voiced his objections to the decision by the General Legal Council (GLC) to disbar Chief State Attorney, Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh, for allegedly transferring GH¢400,000 into Woyome’s wife’s bank account.

Woyome adamantly denied ever giving or receiving a bribe, emphasizing that the state attorney is being unfairly targeted. The GLC took action after finding that Mr. Nerquaye-Tetteh personally orchestrated the direct transfer of GH¢400,000 from Woyome to his wife’s bank account, without providing a reasonable explanation.

Refusing to stand by and witness the maltreatment of Mr. Tetteh, Woyome argued that the state attorney had dedicated his efforts to the country’s improvement and had played a significant role in saving Ghana substantial funds by winning judgment debt cases.

Woyome expressed his disappointment with the GLC’s stance towards Mr. Tetteh, stating that the GLC’s decisions can and should be challenged to ensure that the rule of law, freedom, and justice, upon which the Constitution is based, are upheld.

Furthermore, Woyome revealed that his request to participate in the GLC case against Mr. Tetteh was denied. He stressed that the GLC is not a law court, but a judicial body equivalent to the High Court of Ghana and called for the GLC’s decisions to be challenged.
