Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, who has been nominated as the Finance Minister, has reiterated the government’s commitment to the ongoing program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

This pledge was made in the wake of a significant ministerial reshuffle, in which 13 Ministers and 10 deputies were relieved of their duties with immediate effect.

Dr. Amin Adam assured that there would be no deviation from the established path, stating that the budget presented this year contained several pro-poor initiatives that he does not plan to depart from. In addition, he emphasized the importance of adhering to the IMF program and pledged to ensure that the program remains on track. “It is important to note that we are under an IMF program, and I want to assure the IMF and the business community that I will ensure that the program remains on track,” he said.

The ongoing IMF program seeks to address economic challenges and promote fiscal responsibility in Ghana. Dr. Amin Adam’s commitment to continuity in collaboration with the IMF demonstrates the government’s dedication to safeguarding the country’s economic stability and implementing measures to insulate the poor.

The ministerial reshuffle, which resulted in the departure of ministers such as Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta, is reflective of a strategic reorganization of the government’s leadership. The changes in leadership aim to position the government for a more focused and effective approach to addressing the country’s economic and social challenges.

Overall, the reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to the IMF program and the assurance of policy continuity by the new Finance Minister designate, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, underscores a strategic partnership geared towards fostering economic growth and enhancing fiscal responsibility in Ghana.
