Clean Ghana campaign: 2 arrested, shops closed down at Agbogbloshie market

The Clean Ghana campaign has taken action by making two arrests and closing down several shops in the Agbogbloshie market in Accra due to unsanitary conditions. A task force inspected corn milling operations to ensure they were in compliance with the law. Unfortunately, the team found that a large number of people were not in compliance and had to shut down many shops as a result.

According to Florence Kuukyi, an Environmental Health Officer at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, those who were arrested during the inspections will be processed for court. She stated that the individuals arrested had already been warned by the court but refused to follow the directive.

Furthermore, Kuukyi mentioned that the arrested individuals were not the owners of the property, and they were arrested to locate the owners of the property. Once the real owners come forward, they will also be processed for court.

It is clear that the Clean Ghana campaign is taking a firm stance on enforcing sanitary standards in markets and businesses across the country in order to promote public health and safety. The crackdown serves as a warning to others who may be neglectful of the regulations.
