Cape Coast High Court Two has adjourned the murder case of 25-year-old Georgina Asor Botchwey, due to the illness of one of the accused persons, Michael Darko, a pastor.

The case is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, with a newly formed panel, aiming to fast-track proceedings for justice to be served. The Presiding Judge, Justice John Mark Nuku Alifo, has stated that the court will sit on the case three times a week to expedite the process.

Mr. Vincent Enyinako, a representative of the Attorney General’s Office, revealed that Darko had been discharged from the Police Hospital and would be available for proceedings to continue next week. The absence of Christopher Ekow Clark Quansah (Nana Clark) in court on Thursday, February 8, was due to Darko’s indisposition, which prevented the prosecution from transporting him alone to court.

A family member of the deceased, Papa Annan Swanzy, expressed confidence that justice would prevail despite the delay. The tragic incident occurred when Georgina Asor Botchwey, an applicant seeking admission at the Ankaful Psychiatric Nursing School in the Central Region, traveled to Cape Coast for an interview.

After informing her senior sister’s fiancé, Darko, of her arrival and purpose, he offered to pick her up after her interview. Darko then arranged for Nana Clark to drive her to a location where she was later seized and subsequently murdered by the accused persons.

The case has sparked outrage and highlighted the need for swift justice for the deceased. The accused persons face charges of conspiracy to commit the crime and murder. It is essential for the legal system to explore all avenues to ensure justice is served for Georgina Asor Botchwey and her family.
