The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia recently faced criticism from the Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
During a national address, Dr. Bawumia spoke about the lack of decision-making power of the Economic Management Team (EMT), which he chairs.
Dr. Ato Forson dismissed Dr. Bawumia’s remarks and described them as untrue and unacceptable to the people of Ghana.
According to Dr. Ato Forson, Dr. Bawumia is making excuses for the failures of the EMT, leading to significant hardships for Ghanaians. He emphasized that Ghanaians are vigilant and will not be deceived by Dr. Bawumia’s rhetoric.

He questioned why Dr. Bawumia is downplaying the role of the EMT and his chairmanship, especially when the impact of the government’s poor economic policies is adversely affecting Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia, on the other hand, clarified that the EMT lacked final decision-making authority, functioning as a sub-committee of the Cabinet and could only provide recommendations rather than enact them.
He stressed his intentions to use his decision-making powers if elected as President.
