A Development Economist at the University of Development Studies (UDS), Dr. Michael Ayamga, has criticized the Akufo-Addo-led administration, calling it a disastrous government.
Dr. Ayamga argued on the AM Show that the government has caused economic decline in the country and harshly impacted the economy. According to him, the malfunctioning of institutions is evident in their failure to advertise job vacancies and the lack of accountability.
However, the government’s spokesperson on governance and security, Mr. Palgrave Boakye Danquah, disagrees with Dr. Ayamga’s assertions. He described Dr. Ayamga’s comments as dishonest and emphasized the importance of honesty in national discourse, regardless of political affiliation. Mr. Danquah pointed out that the current administration has implemented policies that were not in existence in the previous government.
He also mentioned that there are imminent reshufflings within the government and that every leader holds the right to make changes to their ministries and agencies. Mr. Danquah stated that President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo is in the final part of his government and needs to make changes to cement his legacy and complete projects that have not been completed.
It is clear that there are differing opinions about the performance of the Akufo-Addo-led administration, and national discourse on the matter will continue. The government’s efforts to address the concerns raised by Dr. Ayamga and others will be crucial in shaping public opinion in the lead-up to the next election.
