The Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in South Africa, Wilbertina Buxton, has recently launched a song in support of the NDC campaign for the upcoming 2024 general election. This move is aimed at boosting the morale of the NDC party base as they prepare to challenge the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During an interview on Power 97.9 FM, Ms. Buxton highlighted the pressing issues in Ghana and compared them to South Africa, where she currently resides. She expressed her belief that the leadership in Ghana does not prioritize the well-being of its citizens, prompting her to channel her musical talents into creating a song with the ultimate goal of securing a victory for the NDC in the 2024 elections.
As a gospel musician, Ms. Buxton felt compelled to release this song in support of the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama. The song has been widely promoted on various NDC platforms worldwide and has garnered positive feedback, particularly from the NDC SA Chapter.
In response to concerns about mixing gospel music with politics, the Women’s Organizer assured that the song resonates with the struggles faced by ordinary Ghanaians and advocates for a change in government. She expressed gratitude to Mr. Benjamin Quashie, the Chair of the NDC SA Chapter Council of Elders, and all others who have supported her on this journey.
The release of this song not only showcases Ms. Buxton’s talent as a musician but also underscores the passion and commitment of NDC supporters as they gear up for the 2024 general election.
