Afrobeats Sensation Olive The Boy Advocates for More Nominations at Telecel Ghana Music Awards
Rising Afrobeats star Olive The Boy has expressed his concerns over his nominations for the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards, calling for inclusion in additional categories.
Despite already securing three nominations, including Best New Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, and Best Afrobeats Song of the Year, the talented artist behind the hit song ‘Goodsin’ believes he deserves recognition in two more categories.
In a recent interview on TV3, Olive The Boy revealed that his management team has reached out to the award scheme to be considered for Album/EP of the Year and Best Afrobeats Artiste of the Year.
Citing the significance of his EP ‘Goodsin’ and his prowess in the Afrobeats genre, Olive The Boy emphasized the importance of being acknowledged in these additional categories.
Robert Klah, the Public Relations Officer for Charterhouse, the organizers of the awards, has encouraged artists who have concerns about their nominations to seek clarification. He assured that the organizers are open to making necessary adjustments and providing clarity where needed.
Olive The Boy is not the only artist raising issues with their nominations. Rapper Amerado has also appealed to the awards’ organizers, questioning why his song ‘Kweku Ananse’ was not nominated for Most Popular Song of the Year.
As the music industry gears up for the prestigious Telecel Ghana Music Awards, artists like Olive The Boy and Amerado are advocating for transparency and fairness in the nomination process. Their voices are a reminder of the importance of recognizing and celebrating the hard work and talent of Ghanaian musicians.
