Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has revealed the secret to his long-lasting success in the music industry.
With nearly three decades of experience under his belt, the rapper attributes his longevity to feigning youthfulness and maintaining an innocent mindset.
In a recent interview with Joy FM’s Drive Time host, Lexis Bill, Okyeame Kwame shared his approach to staying relevant in the ever-changing music industry. He emphasized the importance of approaching his work with a fresh perspective and seizing new opportunities by pretending to be young.
“I pretend I am young. I go back to being naive and I go back to a fresh start. I go to the gym to be young and feel young in my body. I work with young people and I take advice from them,” Okyeame Kwame explained.
In addition to his personal mindset, the Rap Dacta also made significant changes to his team by surrounding himself with younger individuals who inspire him. He acknowledged the value of their insight and their ability to provide perspective on his projects in the dynamic music landscape.
To further enhance his chances of success, Okyeame Kwame revealed that he replaced older members of his team with 20-year-olds who challenge and motivate him. This shift in his team dynamics has helped him stay current and innovative in his craft.
Despite being in his late 40s and having spent 26 years in the music industry, Okyeame Kwame shows no signs of slowing down. His recent nomination for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) in the Hiplife Song of the Year category is a testament to his continued relevance.
While facing competition from younger acts, Okyeame Kwame remains focused on his goal of winning the ultimate accolade, Artiste of the Year. He expressed his determination to change the narrative by dropping a massive album and putting in the work necessary to achieve this prestigious recognition.
