The CEO of Fantasy Dome, Leslie Quaynor, recently shared that he has not made any profit from the now-demolished entertainment venue since its establishment in 2018.
In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Mr Leslie explained that various challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and redevelopment plans by the Ghana Trade Fair Company, have hindered the operation of the Fantasy Dome.
He mentioned that he was unable to operate the business for two and a half years due to the impact of COVID-19. Additionally, redevelopment plans in 2021 and 2022 required him to vacate the premises, further affecting his ability to recoup his investments.
Despite the terms of his lease requiring a six-month notice for relocation within the Trade Fair, the Trade Fair Company requested that he move to a different location.
Mr Leslie expressed concerns about the significant costs involved in relocating the Fantasy Dome, such as excavating and filling the clay-filled land, estimated at two million dollars. He also questioned the feasibility of investing an additional four million dollars to set up a temporary platform in a new location with only a year left on his lease.
Efforts to negotiate with the CEO of the Ghana Trade Fair Company, Dr. Agnes Adu, to allow the Fantasy Dome to remain in its current location for a year were unsuccessful.
This situation has prevented the Fantasy Dome from operating effectively and has left Mr Leslie at a loss for his investments in the venue.
