If you are a gospel artist who hasn’t worked with Nacee, forget Ghana Music Awards – Broda Sammy

Ghanaian gospel musician Broda Sammy has made a bold statement regarding his chances of ever being nominated for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Broda Sammy expressed his belief that his rivalry with fellow gospel artist Nacee is the reason he has not been able to secure any nominations.

Broda Sammy claims that Nacee, who is currently a board member of the awards scheme, has been influential in ensuring that his name is omitted from nominations. He cited instances where his name was replaced with other artists, such as Ceccy Twum, due to his association with Nacee.

The ‘Amen’ hitmaker also mentioned that other gospel musicians who do not collaborate with Nacee in the production of their music face similar challenges in receiving recognition from award schemes. He highlighted the case of Obaapa Christy, who records with Bassey Studios and has allegedly been overlooked for awards as well.

Broda Sammy raised questions about Nacee’s position on the board and suggested that new rules should be implemented to prevent active musicians from influencing award outcomes. He emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in the selection process, urging the leaders of the award scheme to consider implementing retirement as a prerequisite for board membership.

Broda Sammy expressed his frustrations with the current system and called for a reevaluation of the criteria for board membership and nominations in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
