Reggae/Dancehall sensation Stonebwoy is urging Charterhouse, the organizers of the TGMA, to announce the winner of the 2019 Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year.
The award ceremony was marred by a scuffle between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, resulting in their suspension from the prestigious event for a year.
Despite the suspension, Stonebwoy remains confident that he was the rightful winner of the Artiste of the Year award in 2019. He expressed his desire for Charterhouse to make the announcement official, as he believes he deserves the recognition for his hard work and talent.
During the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Stonebwoy clinched the coveted Artiste of the Year title, beating out stiff competition from other talented artists. This victory marked his second win in this category, making him only the third artist in history to achieve such a feat.
In addition to the Artiste of the Year award, Stonebwoy also took home five other accolades, including Best International Collaboration, Best Reggae/Dancehall Artist, Songwriter of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Dancehall Artiste. This impressive haul further solidifies his status as a top-tier artist in the Ghanaian music industry.
The journey to this triumph was not without its challenges, as Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were previously banned from participating in the VGMAs following a highly publicized altercation at the 2019 edition.
However, both artists have since been reinstated, with Stonebwoy making a triumphant return to the stage in 2022 and continuing his winning streak in subsequent years.
