Ghanaian reggae artist, Ras Kuuku, has expressed his belief that Gyakie should have won the Female Vocal Performance award at the recent Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
In an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Ras Kuuku commended Gyakie for her exceptional work in the past year.
Ras Kuuku emphasized that Gyakie’s collaboration with UK rapper JBEE showcased her talent and should have earned her the recognition she deserved. Despite not being nominated in the category, Ras Kuuku felt that Gyakie’s efforts should have been acknowledged.
The Female Vocalist of the Year category at the TGMA was contested by Niiella, Titi Owusu, Adina, Abiana, Lordina The Soprano, and Queendalyn Yurglee, with the latter emerging as the winner.
Telecel Ghana Music Awards’ definition of the Best Female Vocal Performance category states that the award is presented to the female artist with the best vocal delivery and performance on any musical presentation released during the year under review.
Despite the outcome, Ras Kuuku’s support for Gyakie’s talent and hard work highlights the diversity and quality of talent in the Ghanaian music industry. It is essential to recognize and appreciate the efforts of all artists who contribute to the vibrant music scene in Ghana.
