Ghanaian highlife musician Deon Boakye has released a new single, titled ‘High Grade,’ following his controversial tweet at High Grade Family record label boss, Samini.
On the night of the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Deon Boakye rattled feathers when he sent out a tweet reminding Samini of a promise he made during the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
It could be recalled that during the 2018 awards night, Samini shared his platform with Deon Boakye, endorsed him, and promised to support his career with a whopping $250,000.
However, from Deon Boakye’s recent tweet, it appears Samini failed to fulfill his promise.
“It’s been five years now !!! It feels like yesterday .. Hmm $250,000,” Deon Boakye tweeted, causing an uproar among High Grade Family fans on Twitter.
“Samini give you hype on a big stage and you slept on it … what else did you want him to do,” a tweep @Midas_Babs said. Another user @Kellyrecardo said: “Tell Samini to write a hit song for you bruv, cos you’ve been an underground artiste for soo long.”
But Deon Boakye responded to the controversy he created by releasing a new single bearing the name of Samini’s label.
‘High Grade’ basically talks about how unhappy Samini is with the energy from Deon Boakye and feels he can do more after the endorsement.
