The 14th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards took place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the prestigious Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), and it was a night filled with glitz, glamour, and celebration of Ghana’s entertainment industry.
One of the standout moments of the evening was when Nana Gyasi Owusu, popularly known as NGO, was awarded the Best Lead Actor in a Drama or Comedy Series.
This win marks NGO’s second accolade at the Ghana Movie Awards, following his previous win as Best Supporting Actor in a Drama or Comedy in 2019. His consistent recognition at the awards showcases his exceptional talent and versatility as an actor.
NGO rose to fame in 2017 with his role in the popular TV show Kejetia vs Makola, where his charisma and performance endeared him to audiences across the country.
Since then, he has appeared in various films such as Kudi, Hello (Love and Lockdown), One Hour to the Wedding, and the recent hit movie Pawn. His portrayal in Pawn has been praised for its depth and contribution to the film’s success, earning it 11 nominations at the 14th Ghana Movie Awards.
Apart from his acting skills, NGO is also known for his work as a game show host on ‘What Don’t You Know,’ where his wit and humor entertain viewers. He effortlessly transitions between acting, comedy, broadcasting, and MCing, earning admiration from both fans and industry peers.
During his acceptance speech, NGO expressed gratitude to his supporters, including the crew members, fellow actors, fans, family, and colleagues who have been instrumental in his success. His humility, warmth, and genuine connection with people have endeared him to many, making him a beloved figure in the entertainment scene.
