Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt reach divorce deal

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally reached a divorce settlement after an eight-year legal battle.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2014 and share six children, were once one of the most famous pairs in Hollywood, affectionately called ‘Brangelina’ by the media.

The divorce proceedings began in 2016 when Jolie filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences”. Reports later surfaced that she had accused Pitt of being abusive towards her and two of their children during a private jet incident that same year.

Despite the allegations, Pitt was never charged after a police investigation and has vehemently denied the claims. While Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, confirmed the settlement, Pitt’s legal team has not made any public statements regarding the agreement.

The couple’s divorce has been a long and tumultuous process, with Jolie stating that it has taken a toll on her and she is relieved that this part is finally over. The couple had agreed on a joint custody arrangement for their children in 2021 after a lengthy custody battle.

One of the unresolved issues in their divorce settlement is the fate of their French vineyard, Chateau Miraval, which they purchased in 2008. Pitt accused Jolie of selling her stake in the property to a Russian oligarch without his knowledge, leading to a legal battle over the vineyard.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt met on the set of the movie Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005 and their relationship quickly became tabloid fodder.

The high-profile marriage was Pitt’s second and Jolie’s third. Jolie, known for her roles in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Girl, Interrupted, is currently working on a biopic about opera singer Maria Callas.

Meanwhile, Pitt, known for his performances in Fight Club and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, is filming a Formula One movie titled F1.
