Ghanaian actress Gloria Sarfo recently opened up about her journey from humble beginnings to success in the entertainment industry.
In a candid interview, she shared a particularly embarrassing encounter with a taxi driver that highlighted the challenges she faced early in her career.
Sarfo revealed that she had to take on the role of the family’s breadwinner at a young age while pursuing her acting dreams. This often meant she struggled to afford transportation to and from auditions, sometimes resorting to hiring taxis with the hope of borrowing money from someone once she arrived at her destination.
“There are times I will get down from the taxi just to make calls but won’t get the money to pay or even if I do, the money would have to cater for the house because it was that tough,” she recounted.
On one occasion, Sarfo recalled asking a taxi driver to come to her home in Burma Camp to collect payment, even though she had no money to give. The driver showed up early in the morning, banging on the door and causing a scene in front of her neighbors. Despite the embarrassment, Sarfo persevered and continued to pursue her acting career.
Today, Sarfo expressed gratitude for how far she has come and how she has been able to overcome those early struggles. She noted that the same taxi drivers who were once a source of stress are now her friends, and she enjoys sharing her successes with them.
Sarfo’s story is a testament to the resilience and determination required to succeed in the entertainment industry. Despite facing numerous challenges along the way, she has emerged as a successful and respected actress in Ghana.
