Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena appears uncomfortable on the red carpet of the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards happening at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Many celebrities have already graced the red carpet with their elegant wardrobe collections, however, it appears Kwabena Kwabena’s wardrobe choice caught him a lot of heat.
The ‘Adult Music’ hitmaker appeared on the VGMA red carpet wearing a multi-colored loose dress and trousers. He paired it with black shoes and some accessories.
He appeared okay, but what caught people’s attention was how much sweat he was wiping from his face on the red carpet. He was sweating profusely.
His appearance attracted instant criticism on social media. Many thought his dress was too heavy and gayish, and should have opted for simple African wear as his brand is known for.
“When we insult u people, you will complain. Upon all the african dressings, we could have showcased. This is what you people chose to wear. Agyimifour. When people are promoting their culture through awards see what mu gyimi no 3y3. Cocoa ase nkurasefour ase four,” an Instagram user said.
Another user said: “Kwasia pressure u see how heat wan kii u for there.”
Kwabena Kwabena was nominated for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. He was nominated for the ‘Best Music Video of the Year’ category with his song ‘Afraid to Lose You’ but lost to Black Sherif.
It’s not clear whether or not he would mount the stage to perform.
