Ghanaian disc jockey, DJ Azonto’s appearance on the red carpet of the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has attracted wild reactions from fans, social media users, and viewers of the awards ceremony.
DJ Azonto, who is famous for his 2022 hit single ‘Fa No Fom,’ made the VGMA 2023 red carpet with an unusual appearance, akin to Lil Nas X’s recent red carpet appearances.
The multiple award-winning DJ appeared on the red carpet wearing a bizarre drag queen dress, plus make-up, long colored nails, and high heels.
This is not his first time. He is controversial by nature. At the just-ended Ghana Music Awards Europe, he appeared on stage to perform wearing a government school uniform (popularly known as ‘konkonte’).
He often wears drag queen clothes, however, his appearance on the VGMA red carpet has been condemned by many people who saw his outfit.
“These are things we shouldn’t be entertaining kraaa this is stupid,” an Instagram user said.
Another user said: “I feel sad whenever I see him like this .. with all the money this is what you can do for fame.”
“If UTV is entertaining this madness then they should speak against LGBTQ again. Because this person is part,” a user added.
Officially known as Mark Kwesi Arthur, DJ Azonto is a popular Ghanaian DJ and entrepreneur. He won the Hiplife DJ of the Year award at the 2016 Ghana DJ Awards.
After releasing his hit single, Fa No Fom, he grabbed three nominations at the maiden edition of Ghana Music Awards Europe and a nomination at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. DJ Azonto’s official Instagram page is @djazonto_rollsroyce.
