Troll Tiffany Haddish at your own peril. The comedian and actress recently shared with the Los Angeles Times about the extreme measures she took last year in response to a wave of hateful online comments. Tiffany Haddish, 44, admitted to creating a fake Instagram account for her “alter ego” Sarah, who would confront her trolls by revealing personal details about them.
In some instances, the Emmy winner even engaged with her haters over the phone. “I’ve learned how to find people’s information—like I pull up the credit report, police records. You can do that for $1.99,” Haddish revealed. “Sometimes, I get so mad that I’ll get their phone number and I’ll just call them.”
Despite the disbelief from the interviewer, Haddish stood her ground, describing how she has called individuals who criticized her online. She believes that people tend to say whatever they want on the internet without expecting any repercussions. However, as a human being, she sometimes feels compelled to respond.
Moreover, Tiffany Haddish once hired a digital forensics analyst to investigate a series of death threats she received. The actress was relieved to discover that 75 percent of the messages originated from Malaysia and Iran, generated by bots.
Haddish has faced personal challenges recently, including a child sexual abuse lawsuit that impacted her professional opportunities. She disclosed losing all her gigs and jobs due to the lawsuit. Furthermore, in November 2023, she faced a DUI arrest for the second time in less than two years. Following a plea of no contest to a misdemeanor reckless driving violation, the charge was dropped when her blood alcohol content was found to be 0.03 percent.
Despite these difficulties, Haddish has learned valuable lessons, such as refraining from alcohol, prioritizing rest, and being selective about her projects. Her upcoming second memoir, “I Curse You with Joy,” is set to be released on May 7, following her 2019 book, “The Last Black Unicorn.” This resilient actress and comedian continues to overcome challenges and grow from her experiences.
