Taylor Swift’s father will not face charges after allegations that he assaulted a paparazzo in Australia were investigated by New South Wales police.
Ben McDonald, the 51-year-old photographer, claimed that Scott Swift, 72, struck him in the face on a Sydney wharf on 27 February. However, after a month-long investigation, authorities concluded that no further action would be taken.
The incident took place after Mr. Swift and his daughter disembarked from a yacht following her final Eras Tour show in Sydney. A video captured by Australian media shows Taylor Swift, concealed under an umbrella, walking with her father and security guards along Neutral Bay Wharf late at night.
Mr. McDonald claimed that Mr. Swift attacked him without provocation while the singer was already inside a car.
On the other hand, Taylor Swift’s representative stated that two individuals were behaving aggressively towards the star, grabbing at her security personnel and even threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.
Known as “Papa Swift” by fans of the pop icon, Mr. Swift has been accompanying his daughter on her global Eras Tour. He left the country shortly after the incident, and the case has now been closed without any charges being filed.
This news comes as a relief to the Swift family, who can now put this incident behind them and focus on their future endeavors.
